How to benefit owners and custodians of forests with REDD+projects
March 19, 2021. There are various ways in which communities are affected by REDD+ Projects. It should be borne in mind that the owners of the territories are private or collective, these are the main actors in this process of conservation and sustainable use of the forest.
From the regulation of carbon tax, which establishes the figure of the non-levy of tax for the taxable persons that are certified to be carbon neutral, by supporting initiatives such as REDD+, it opens up a scenario of climate finance that allows a flow of resources for owners and custodians of the natural forests in the country.

In this order of ideas, from the funding of the owners and custodians of the forests are able to leverage their productive activities in a way that is more sustainable, and in line to the conservation and sustainable use of the forests, generating a circular economy and leverage of green business.
On the other hand, among the priorities of the projects is to cover the basic needs unmet local, by means of comprehensive interventions in education, health, housing, access to public services and rescue of ancestral traditions and cultural, that are established and managed by the communities themselves, while respecting their autonomy and self-determination.

BIOFIX has extensive experience in the development of REDD+ Projects. Currently, it is executing 10 projects in Colombia and one in Brazil, which bring together a total of 25 ethnic communities, located in the departments of Chocó, Cauca, Vichada and Guaviare.
