On this special day, BIOFIX wishes to highlight the collaborative work it carries out with the Sikuani, Piapoco, Curripaco, and Puinave indigenous peoples, who are part of the REDD+ projects Palameku Kuwei, Kaliawiri, Yaawi Iipana, Banakale-Isimalí, and Unu-mai. These communities preserve a significant representation of Colombia's cultural diversity and traditions, serving as essential partners in the REDD+ projects that BIOFIX develops in the country.
With these ethnic communities, BIOFIX, from planning to project implementation, conducts all meetings and activities in their native languages. This practice ensures clear understanding and meaningful participation, honoring linguistic diversity and promoting cultural inclusion.
The Sikuani, Piapoco, Curripaco, and Puinave languages carry an invaluable cultural richness. They have passed down ancestral knowledge, unique worldviews, and a deep connection to the land and natural surroundings for many generations. At BIOFIX, we recognize the intrinsic value of these languages, and it is our commitment to contribute to preserving them as an integral part of our efforts for environmental and cultural conservation and the promotion of sustainable development.
