Ilha do Bananal is classified as the largest fluvial island in the world, where there is a great wealth and diversity of flora and fauna. It is located in a transition zone between humid tropical forest of the Amazon basin and woody savannas with gallery forest.

This project aims to protect more than 2 million hectares of territory made up of jungle and flooded areas, benefiting more than 4,000 people from the 42 villages of Javaé, Karajá and Ãwa, present in 2 indigenous territories in the transition region between El Cerrado and the Brazilian Amazon.

This territory made up of jungles and flooded areas is a fast and efficient ecosystem in CO2 capture, standing out as the largest Blue Carbon project developed by BIOFIX Consulting in partnership with indigenous communities in Brazil.
