Its name is in honor of the Harlequin frog an exotic species in danger of extinction that protects you with the activities of this conservation project that includes 74.746 hectares of tropical moist forest in the area biogeographic Chocó.
The project proponents HARLEQUIN REDD+ are Community Councils ACISANP, COCOILLO and COCOMACER, in partnership with BIOFIX, have been working in seeking to minimize the impact their communities generated by deforestation or forest degradation.
This project has initiatives in the reforestation of degraded ecosystems, the strengthening of the agricultural sector – productive with local products such as annatto seed, cassava, chinese potato, cacao, medicinal plants, banana, sacha inchi, and the modernization of the process of transformation of rice; the promotion of environmental education and tourism, the implementation of appropriate technologies to the cooking and the improvement of infrastructure and equipment in mobility, health, housing, and recreation.
