Why is it important to compensate for the carbon footprint?
The increase of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) has a great impact on climate change. Most often reflect flooding, greater rainfall in less time, increases in temperature and drought of long duration, among other effects.
The compensation and reduction of the carbon footprint produced by a person, a group, an organization, a company or even a product or service, will help to mitigate these effects. The change of daily habits, and the transformation of business daily emit a number of tons of CO2 will contribute to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Currently, countries and public and private organizations execute plans to reduce to zero this type of emissions and to achieve that goal, we are promoting initiatives in various parts of the world to promote the way towards a future without carbon emissions.
In Colombia, for example, through the Law 1819 of 2016, we established the Carbon Tax, a measure that seeks to discourage the use of fossil fuels, and was incorporated as one of the first environmental taxes in the country, within the actions of public policies that contribute to the mitigation of the effects of climate change.
This alternative compensation to companies constituted as a policy innovation at the global level, which seeks to taxpayers to offset their emissions with the purchase of carbon credits, not as a result of the tax, and your compensation will boost the protection of significant areas of forests for carbon capture and improve the quality of life of ethnic communities that inhabit these territories.

The voluntary compensation is another of the initiatives that both companies and individuals can use to contribute to carbon sequestration. Currently, BIOFIX account with projects of conservation of forests in Colombia that allow you to connect to people with their compensation of the carbon footprint and promotes the development of ethnic communities in their respective territories.
