What are the species of flora and fauna that are protected by each REDD+project?
REDD projects, in addition to aiding the Reduction of carbon Dioxide emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, is also looking to implement actions to protect the flora and fauna of the territories where they carry out the projects.
Currently BIOFIX leads different REDD projects in conjunction with indigenous communities and afro-colombian in different regions of the country. Due to the large extensions of forests that have Community Councils, and the indigenous reserves in these same inhabit several species of flora and fauna, which are protected by the communities themselves.
Within the lines of action of each project seeks to conserve and promote the sustainable use of biodiversity, taking into account that we are one of the 17 megadiverse countries, according to the United Nations Program for the Environment.
