In advance, we want to thank the communities belonging to the Cuenca Media y Alta del Río Inírida CMARI Indigenous Reservation for having given us the opportunity to access their collective territory and carry out a series of processes tending to advance a REDD+ project that had the purpose of improving the living conditions of each of the inhabitants belonging to the Reservation through the conservation and sustainable use of their forests.
In the same way, we want to express to the entire community belonging to the Reservation that Biofix Consultoría SAS has a wide and recognized track record in the development of REDD+ projects with ethnically differentiated communities, situation that has been reflected in the conservation of millions of hectares of forests, helping to improve the lives of thousands of families, which has positioned us as a leading and benchmark company in this type of project throughout the national territory.
However, as a result of the situation of conflict that arose within the Reservation, before and during the general assembly held on September 8, 2022, and given the alert of practices that violate transparency, ethics, and the rights of communities, we have agreed that the best decision now is to suspend our actions to carry out a REDD+ project with the Reservation, since As a company guarantor of its own government, the autonomy and self-determination that the Reservation has through its authorities, we do not see an ideal scenario to carry out processes of community benefit.
In accordance with the foregoing, on September 22 of this year, by email, we requested the company CERCARBONO to remove the #98 JAJOM CMARI REDD+ Project from the platform, which was done in the days following this request.
