CARBON FORUM – Climate Week New York City

BIOFIX CONSULTING participated in the Carbon Forum in the framework of the Climate Week, which took place on 24 and 25 September, 2019, in the city of New York. In the event discussed the challenges and opportunities of carbon pricing, where the pricing carbon is aimed at increasing the products and processes of high emissions. With this, companies with products that emit greenhouse gases may experience a reduction in income, but will be encouraged to decarbonise their products and develop green business and sustainable. 

Colombia is leading the discussions to have a carbon price established in the carbon tax and to have a mechanism of compensation of this tax, which encourages the proper functioning of the carbon market. Within the participants at the event stand out, Environmental Defense Fund, Climate Action Reserve, Shell, Allcot, Chevron, bp, Equinor, SouthPole Group, Verra, among others, who highlighted the progress of the regulation colombian and highlighted as an example for other countries. 

During the Climate Week in New York, BIOFIX CONSULTING a founding member of ASOCARBONO (Association of Actors of the Carbon Market Colombian) also held a meeting with the leadership of the International Emission Trading Association (IETA), to achieve an agreement of understanding of the synergy between the two entities. 

The consolidation of an alliance between IETA and ASOCARBONO would help to strengthen the carbon market in Colombia through the analysis and constant participation in decision making, as IETA is recognized in the United Nations Framework for Climate Change (UNFCCC) and give you the opening to visualize globally the actors in the market of carbon colombian affiliated to ASOCARBONO.
