BIOFIX, ally for the voluntary compensation of the carbon footprint
Through the development of conservation projects in partnership with black and indigenous communities, BIOFIX has become an ally of the CO2 compensation for businesses and people in Colombia.
With the structuring projects REDD+ (Reduction of Emissions to the causes of the Deforestation and Degradation of forests), BIOFIX has managed to consolidate in the carbon market as an important actor that helps companies to manage their emissions of CO2 and accompanying people in their process of compensation of the carbon footprint.
With the development of this type of projects of environmental conservation are looking for the mitigation of the effects of climate change through CO2 capture, the improvement of the quality of life of the trustees forest, which are the families that live in the territories and the protection of flora and fauna of the territories.
Currently, the company works with 24 ethnic communities, formed of 8 community councils and 16 indigenous reserves, in the departments of Vichada, Guainía, Guaviare, Chocó, and Valle del Cauca. With these communities persists for more than 1’200,000 hectares of tropical forests in Colombia, and has contributed to the capture of 12’000.000 tons of CO2.
